Ordering
How does ordering work?
Place an order with the flavors you’d like. We’ll reply within 24 hours to confirm what’s available and your total, then agree on a pickup time or set up a courier. Nothing is charged on the site.
How much is it, and how big is a bar?
$7 per bar, and each bar is about 2.5 by 2.5 inches. There’s no minimum or maximum, though larger orders may need more time.
How do I pay?
We take Zelle, Venmo, cash, and cards, including tap to pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay. Pay ahead with Zelle or Venmo, or pay with cash or card at pickup. Courier orders are paid ahead with Zelle or Venmo. We’ll send your total when we confirm your request.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes. Nothing is charged when you order, so just reply to our email or write to us. After we confirm, you can still change or cancel until we start baking, and we’ll refund anything you paid ahead. Once your shortbread is baked, we can’t cancel it, but we’re happy to move your pickup. For custom flavors, recipe development costs can’t be refunded once that work begins.
Is it available right now?
Sometimes we have shortbread on hand; otherwise we bake to order, so there’s no set bake day. We’ll confirm timing when we reply to your order.
Do you take custom, large, corporate, or wholesale orders?
Yes. Write to us with what you have in mind. For custom flavors, we’ll quote the recipe development before any work begins, and only start once you say yes. Those costs are yours, and we’ll treat your money like our own.
Pickup and delivery
Where do I pick up?
Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We’ll agree on a time and share the details by email.
What if I can’t make my pickup?
Let us know as soon as you can and we’ll find another time, or we can send it by Uber courier instead, at your expense. We’ll hold your order for up to three days after the pickup time we agreed on.
Do you deliver or ship?
We don’t ship. Pick your order up in Fort Greene, or we can send it across the city by Uber courier: we book the courier, and the fare is yours. We’ll confirm the fare with you before anything goes out.
The shortbread
How is it packaged?
Each bar comes in its own jacket. We don’t offer gift boxes or notes yet. Stay tuned for hardcover editions.
How should I store it?
In its jacket it keeps about two weeks at room temperature, and longer in the fridge or freezer. It’s at its best in the first 10 days after you get it, and we’ll always tell you the bake date.
Can I freeze it?
Yes. Seal it in a freezer bag, then thaw it on the counter or in the fridge.
What about allergens?
Every flavor contains wheat and milk, and some also contain peanuts, soy, or egg. It’s all made in a home kitchen where cross-contamination is possible. Each flavor’s full ingredients and allergens are in its Quick View on the shelf.
